January -February Newsletter Print

On behalf of our entire PMANC Volunteer Board we want to wish you a very Happy New Year!

The consensus is that 2015 was an extremely busy year in our market. We heard from many PMANC members that last year’s pace was relentless at times and of course, we hope that 2016 will be much the same.

The PMANC Volunteer Board had a similarly fast-paced year. We made major changes in order to better serve our members, including launching our new website, hiring Carol Murphy, our New Executive Director and moving our most important event -- the Monterey Showcase Expo -- to a new location at the Hyatt Monterey. Please note the NEW late April dates: no more conflicts with Mother’s Day weekend!

I want to thank all of our Board Volunteers for their time and energy. Working as a unified team we accomplished a lot, but in particular, our Immediate Past President Loretta Mingram, deserves major kudos for her expert guidance and for the countless hours she put in. Loretta stepped into the 2015 President role at a crucial moment and there was no better person to help us achieve our goals in 2015. Thank you Loretta!

In addition to the key administrative moves we made this year, our Board Volunteers also did some productive “soul-searching” on how PMANC can better engage with our members and serve our community. I’d say we’ve learned that the answers to our questions are always found by talking with our members. We’re reaching out more and by doing so we’ve found fantastic new Volunteers who have offered to help PMANC in areas like: Social Media, Marketing, Continuing Education, Social-Networking Events and new Community Service campaigns.

We would love to have you join our team of member volunteers! The 2016 PMANC “To-Do” list is long, but our team is energized and growing! Some members have offered to help for 1-2 hours while others are co-chairing campaigns like our recent #StayWarmPMANC drive detailed in this newsletter. Whatever involvement you can offer is welcome and will help us create a better PMANC Community.

We’ll be asking you how we can find a way to engage with you in 2016, and meanwhile, check out the new website, like us on Facebook. And don’t forget, make plans now to attend the PMANC Showcase Expo in Monterey on April 20th and 21st. We’re counting on you!

     PMANC Gives Back!

A huge shout-out to volunteer Louise Kostoff (Logomark) who quickly organized #StayWarmPMANC, the first of several upcoming, community-focused campaigns we’re planning this year.

“I was very happy to be involved with the PMANC’s  #StayWarmPMANC - Hoodies for the Homeless drive. Once I learned that the association wanted to give back and begin our #CleanSweep program I was on board. After a few phone calls with Cristina and calls to several organizations that support the homeless, I thought our members could make the best impact partnering with Project Homeless Connect supporting their “Hoodies for the homeless” drive.

Our members really stepped up with very short notice and cleaned out their showrooms, closets and garages. Within 48 hours over 200 hoodies and jackets were collected. Most of the donations were samples in perfect condition.  They were all graciously accepted.”

Thank you to all of our members who donated including: Tracy Gordon, Cheri Partridge, John Oda, Bob Stonhaus, Melissa Deckelman, Victor Valencia, Diana Fay, the Cairdea team, Robert Dalson and the Torn Ranch team as well as Made To Order, including a cash donation from Rod and Barbara Brown as well.

We know some of you offered items and we could not reach you by our deadline. Please stay tuned for announcements on our upcoming #CleanSweep campaign in May. We’ll work to match your unused samples with area organizations that can use them. If you want to be involved, just send us an email!

On December 3, at the Marriott Union Square in San Francisco, our association came together for some holiday cheer as well as the installation of the 2016 Board of Directors.  Much camaraderie was included as we celebrated the holidays and our fellow members.  Lots of discussions about 2015 and how great is was having the holiday party in San Francisco. The food was delicious, the space festive and holiday cheer was abundant!

We also had quite a lively auction that was MC'd by Jodi Spangrud assisted by Victor Valencia.  We raised over $700 for the Campbell Brown Scholarship Fund.

    Thank you everyone!!

    Showcase Expo 2016

We’re listening! Showcase Expo: New April dates and New Venue!

We are pleased to announce this year’s PMANC Showcase Expo will be held on Wednesday, April 20th and Thursday, April 21st.

We heard from many members that they preferred dates prior to Mother’s Day and those earlier dates would encourage them to bring more staff to the show. We also moved the event to the Hyatt Regency Monterey Spa & Hotel, a beautiful venue we know you will love.

The Showcase Expo is truly “Our Show” run for PMANC members and by PMANC members. It’s a true example of member collaboration! We continue to host the event in Monterey because our members love the opportunities this destination venue offers to network and re-acquaint, but also to unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of our region!

We understand that Suppliers and Distributors have extremely busy schedules and are selective about what shows they attend. The goal of Showcase Expo is to offer the best opportunity for a truly productive show experience for both groups. Our size is perfect for Distributors and Suppliers to connect and learn about each other’s business in a casual and personal setting. Unlike PPAI Vegas, our location allows many members to bring their administrative staff to the show so they can learn more about our industry and feel connected.

Your attendance at the Monterey Showcase Expo is the best support you can offer as a PMANC member. We want our members to engage at this event and Showcase Expo revenue supports most of our administrative costs for the entire year. So, if you plan to attend one show this year – make it our Showcase Expo!

Calling Volunteers: Have thoughts about the Showcase Expo? If you would like to help us with this year’s Showcase, we would love to have you and your ideas! Our Member Volunteers plan the event year-round and teams of Distributors and Suppliers are currently working together on all of the different events; including the Golf Tournament, the Launch Party and other campaigns to improve the experience for all attendees and exhibitors.
